Club Moist Redux #2

Franck Hopkins (aka Yout, aka Figit)
Laptop jazz-tinged soundscaping from the aptly named Yout (he's probably the first person to play at Club Moist who's under 30). You wouldn't guess it from listening to his tunes, which show a maturity and sensitivity that the usual beats and bleeps crowd would give their right mouse buttons for. Nice.

Fazzini
Psychedelic folkie or Outre Rocker? You decide. It'd be tempting to come up with some kind of glib PR blurb to describe Mr Fazzini's work; something like 'Roy Harper meets Ivor Cutler in Conny Plank's Studio', but that would be silly. Suffice it to say that Fazzini's last visit to Club Moist was an auspicious occasion, and we expect this one to be even better. If he's got CDs on sale, make sure you get one.

O Yuki Conjugate
OYC made their return to live performance at Club Moist over a year ago and it gives us an almost illegal amount of pleasure to welcome them back. Now extant for over a quarter of a century (blimey!) they describe themselves as 'dirty ambient' but that doesn't begin to do their music justice. Imagine Brian Eno and Jon Hassell jamming inside the shell of a crashed aircraft in the Amazonian jungle while under heavy sedation, and, er, that won't do it justice either. Trust us, they're good.

As ever the estimable Jamie Tetlow will be spinning an eclectic and delicious selection of tunes (at around 3000rpm) from his iPod, and there will be visuals from the even more estimable David Thorpe. And there's a pretty good bar too...

It's still FREE to get in but donations (animal, vegetable or financial) will be most gratefully accepted...

30th August 2008
CLOSED ALL DAY

The FleaPit will be closed today.

29th August 2008
The Young Offenders Institute (but not as you may know it!)

7 - 11pm

The Young Offenders Institute will be installing a table tennis table in The Pit (gallery space) at the FleaPit for an evening of beer, music and ping pong.

We’ll supply the bats & balls and we’ve a few tricks up our sleeves to make sure everyone has a fair chance.

There'll be a prize from The FleaPit's amazing range of micro brewed beers , organic wines and tantalising juices for the winner of each game.

Spectators and players alike will be kept entertained by DJs serving up a wide variety of music - nothing too clever, just great tunes with a certain bounce.

So even if you haven’t played since your youth club days - or since you last served time on remand - join us for a game of round the table.

We’ll have a rotating line-up of DJs serving up music to play ping pong to. That means a whole range of genres, just as long as it’s got some bounce to it.

Our favourite ping pong soundtrack
at the moment would include...
Spank Rock, !!!, Stevie Wonder, Modeselektor, Justice, Dr John, Kinks, Box Tops, Black Keys, The Free Design, Stone Roses, Jurassic 5, Lovin Spoonful, Jackie Wilson, Upsetters, Lee Moses, Reigning Sound, Come Ons, Detroit Cobras, Daptones, Primal Scream, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, New Mastersounds, Death From Above
