SEEDED PLAIN (USA)

Pauline Oliveros deep listening members,
also having their own instrument building workshop and build acoustic and electronic instruments from oak/rosewood/bronze/steel etc.

Their equipment consists of my homemade instruments, which are designed to fold up into a padded cylindrical case, about as long as a cello case and about 24cm wide.
Also a circular table with a number of long wooden rods coming from the top. It's beyond description, but sounds beautiful.

SIGNALS (UK)

Signals was formed by Chris Gowers (Karina ESP, Evelyn Records) and Phil Julian (Cheapmachines, Authorised Version) during summer 2004, initially to work on a collaborative performance for the 2004 London Headphone Festival.

A review by Clive Bell in the September 2004 edition of The Wire said (amongst other things): "...Listeners sprawl around a large room on carpets and sofas, all connected by headphone cables to the current performer, and all, praise the Lord, listening, in varying degrees of rapture or intensity. A projection on the wall tells that this 20 minute slot will finish in 617 seconds, while the next couple of acts are discreetly setting up. I enter, plug my headphones (you bring your own) into the matrix, and commandeer a deckchair.

I'm basking in a golden spotlight, lulled by gently rolling breakers of processed electric guitar from Karina ESP and Cheapmachines. It's as good as being at the beach..." During November 2005, Mark Beazley of Rothko joined Signals to play live as part of the on-going Evelyn Records evenings in London, cementing the core line-up.
